#44 Elizabethan Wintercakes

If you like scones, you will love these because.. um.. they're scones.  The trick here is to dice up the candied ginger into very small pieces. Candied ginger is readily available at Trader Joe's, but each piece is about 1/2" - 3/4" square.  That will overpower these filling, hearty cakes.  I cut them into 1/8"-ish square pieces, and I'm very satisfied with the result.

Not bad for picture taken with my old cell phone!

Leek Martini!

In my defense, that's not really a martini.  That's me, looking to see what happens when you try to make the little root-y end of a leek try to sprout anew instead of just throwing it away*.  I just thought it would be cool to use a martini glass.

* Did I say "throw it away?" I meant "compost it." Sure. Of course I did. *cough* Don't be silly *innocent whistle*

Bonus Recipe: Stuffed Mini Peppers

I took all those extra mini peppers that didn't get coked into Breakfast in Dorne, cut them in half and stuffed them with some salmon, feta, onions, and rice, each topped with a small square of sharp provolone.

Bake at 350 for about 30-40 minutes, and snack happily away!
